Its no more “Radio killed the video star” . Its now radio ( digital radio ) killing its own form Normal radio.
Digital radio is now officially on in Australia and broadcasting. The metropolitan area of sydney , Brisbane , Melbourne , Adelaide , and Perth are currently covered by digital radio. Digital radio officially launched in Australia on August 6th 2009 with a one-off special simultaneous outside broadcast in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide by more than 40 different commercial and public radio stations.
Those waiting in Regional areas will have to wait a bit longer for digital radio.
You need a DAB + Receiver to listen to digital radio, but if you don’t many aussie radio stations are already broadcasting over the internet in digital format and all you need is you internet connection to listen to it.
Why are digital radios so expensive ?
Because these radios use a expensive chip which works as a decoder a to convert the digital stream into sound and correcting any errors.
What is Digital Radio?
Digital Radio is an established broadcast platform in the UK, Asia and parts of Europe which replaces the old analog radio idea of AM/FM stations and tuning via specific frequencies like 106.5FM with a screen on the radio which lets you choose from all the digital radio stations available in your area by name. It is now available in AUSTRALIA
