Today is the opening of the new Coventry square markets in Morley. Not all shops will be open today  but the markets are open  with many retailers  and restaurants open for business.”Coventry square” is located right across the already existing Morley galleria supermarket  and has just brought in competition to the neighbourhood. This is going to be more like a open market complementing many retail stores that are not available at the galleria supermarket  so it will be a good addition  for the nearby suburbs  with  two big supermarkets in the area.

Kenyan Luka Chelimo won in 2hr 17min 3sec ahead of compatriots John Mutai Kipyator and Kiproo Lilan Kennedy.

Ethiopian Roman Gebre Gesesse won the women’s marathon in 2hr 36min 21sec.

Fourteen-year-old Angelique van Niekerk won the women’s 4km run to record an impressive victory in 14 min 51sec.

In October 1973, a 78-member goodwill mission from the Kagoshima prefecture visited Perth. Among the leaders of the party were Mayor Sueyoshi and five Members of the municipal assembly. On October 30th, Mayor Sueyoshi formally invited the City of Perth to sign a sister city agreement. The details were finalised in discussions between Lord Mayor Lee-Steere, Mayor Sueyoshi, Town Clerk G.O. Edwards and his counterpart, Mr Fumiyoshi Ogata, and on 19 November the full Council agreed to formalise the sister-city affiliation. The Lord Mayor, Mr Lee-Steere, led a group of Councillors and citizens of Perth during a visit to Kagoshima for the signing of the sister-city agreement, which was formalised on 23 April 1974. Indian soccer star Sunil Chhetri in perth glory scouting sights

Perth Glory’s director of football Dave Mitchell has flown to Qatar to watch the Asian Cup and will pay close attention to the Indian striker’s performance against Australia on Monday night (Perth time). The 26-year-old signed for Major League Soccer side Kansas City Wizards in the US, was on the sights by Glory coach by Ian Ferguson before  he could land Chhetri before the start of the current season.

Big-name recruits such as Robbie Fowler, Jacob Burns and Mile Sterjovski have failed to spark Glory to success this season. Sunil Chhetri (born 3 August 1984 in Secundrabad) is an Indian footballer who currently plays for Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer.

Chhetri started his football career playing for school teams and then for his local club, City Club. Since then, he has represented I-League clubs Mohun Bagan, East Bengal Club and JCT FC. At Mohun Bagan, he scored eight goals over three seasons where the club finished in the bottom half of the league table every time. The next three seasons were spent at JCT where he scored a total of twenty goals including twelve goals in a single season where JCT finished second in the league

What is telethon ?

Telethon is a registered children’s charitable trust dedicated to raising funds to improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia. Every year common people and stars get together to  raise funds for these sick children.

Last year’s Telethon raised 6 million and brought the total amount raised to $94 million since the event began in 1968. Organisers were hoping to reach the $100 million mark, which would be a landmark for assistance to charitable organisations, children’s hospitals and medical facilities in WA.

Hollywood star and “Telethon guest of honour John Travolta” dashed back to the United States last night after receiving news that pregnant wife Kelly Preston had gone into labour. but there are plenty of other stars that are attending like Actor Hugh Sheridan, from hit TV show Packed to the Rafters, and Better Homes and Gardens hunk Rob Palme , BooBoo Stewart, the 16-year-old American star of Twilight: Eclipse and the yet-to-be released Twilight: Breaking Dawn films.

Phoebe of Seville Grove (Age 10)

Phoebe is described as a little fashionista who loves the camera and is very outgoing. She is extremely articulate, bubbly and friendly with everyone, always stopping by to say hello to staff when at PMH for appointments. She is very chatty and loves to strike up a conversation.

Phoebe was born with a Cleft Palate and Cystic Hygroma, with swelling in the neck, mouth and face. She has had a number of surgeries and injections to reduce the swelling, but still has a visible lump on the side of her face.  In fact, she had eleven operations before her 1st birthday.

Phoebe is now in Grade 4 and is extremely excited about representing all the kids from Perth at Telethon 2010.

Lachy of Boyanup (Age

Lachy loves the West Coast Eagles, motorbike riding (BMX), football, soccer and hanging out with his friends. He attends Boyanup Primary School and has three younger sisters.  He’s a happy, outgoing child and a little bit cheeky and he gets away with it with his big blue eyes and dimples.

Lachy was diagnosed at age four with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (a form of leukaemia) and underwent extensive chemotherapy treatment for six months at PMH.  Lachy relapsed in April 2008 and underwent another twelve months of chemotherapy.  Lachy is now in remission and doing very well.Lachy’s Mum, Holly is a tireless campaigner for the Leukaemia Foundation and other charities.Lachy is looking forward to representing all the regional kids from around Western Australia at Telethon 2010.

Diwali in Australia

Diwali is one of the biggest festival of Hindus, celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness in India. While Deepavali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning is "the awareness of the inner light". The name Diwali is itself a contraction of the word Deepavali (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvali), which translates into row of lamps .

You gotta give it to them to  put in such a effort  for charity. an yes i did  with a $5 donation. I was quite amused to see  tony abott staring at me half nak3d  from the  pack fo newspapers they were selling

"We’re a small city, a little Aussie battler trying to make a name for ourselves, and for the rest of the world to throw all of these natural disasters – it’s just raining on our disaster parade. Actually rain might help – it’s liven things up around here."

So what were the student’s upto  really ?

It’s the University of WA’s student guild satirical newspaper, produced for PROSH day and sold for a gold coin donation to the guild’s charity of choice. The most attention grabbing element of the paper had to be the revealing centrefold of Mr Abbott, who looks like he’s out of a sheldon singh underwear advertisement.

PROSH has produced 175,000 copies of the newspaper, which has been spruiked across the Perth metropolitan area.Prosh director Sarah Jayne says they hope to beat last year’s total of $146,000, which came from 115,000 copies sold.

The money will go to Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA, Clown Doctors – which helps children overcome painful procedures in hospital, The Grey Man – which helps fight child trafficking in Asia, The Heart Foundation and Uni Camp for Kids.

The mad tea party

The mad tea party is one of the memorable  parts of the story that will be remembered when you read the books and  is well picturised in its all weirdness in the movie Alice in wonderland as well

“The Cheshire Cat appears in a tree, directing her to the March Hare’s house.
